GENERAL RULES OF COMPETITION

  1. All entries must be original and the artist’s own idea and creativity.
  2. All entries must be registered and submitted through the MYACT website.
  3. Each participant may submit a maximum of three (3) entries through three (3) different registrations and only the best one will be selected by our judges.
  4. The closing date for entries is July 26, 2021. Any submissions after the closing date will not be accepted.
  5. If the organizers find that the work submitted is not original, then the work will be removed from this competition immediately. All entries are subject to the FINAL decision by the judges.
  6. All the artworks will be placed in the MYACT Online Gallery for use in the ‘MALAYSIAN YOUTH ACTION AGAINST TORTURE (MYACT)’ campaign.
  7. Participation is only open to TWO (2) AGE CATEGORIES only, namely:
    • Category A: Aged 15 to 18 years
    • Category B: Aged 19 to 24 years

TERMS FOR ARTWORK 

  1. The artwork should be relevant to the issue of torture of detainees in Malaysia – visit myact.suaram.net to refer to individual cases prepared by SUARAM.
  2. Participants are free to create their own work (according to their own creativity and ideas) or based their drawings on the template provided.
  3. There are no restrictions of medium for participant’s artwork: watercolour, poster colour, charcoal, oil paint, coloured pencils, soft pastel, oil pastel, mixed or fully digital.
  4. The drawing of the work must be in horizontal format (Landscape).
  5. Submitted artworks must be scanned using ‘High Resolution’ (300 DPI) and only JPEG image file format is permitted.
  6. Evaluation will be done according to the following criteria taken into account:
    • Ideas and Concept              : 50%
    • Drawing techniques             : 50%

COPYRIGHT 

  1. By participating in this competition, each participant agrees to allow the organizers to use the submitted work for non-commercial purposes in line with the objectives and goals of this competition and for the project “Reducing risky practices leading to torture and ill-treatment in police custody in Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand”.
  2. The organizers cannot use the work for commercial issues and must seek approval from the participants should they choose to do so.
  3. Participants have the right to use the work in any publication and the organizer has no express or implied responsibility for the publication of the work.
